Principles, Methods and Practicum for Teaching Primary Science and Social Studies

This course will investigate the theories and methods for teaching science and develop effective teaching skills with the emphasis on planning, implementing instruction, and assessment of student learning. Topics include the scientific method, experimentation, interpretation of data using graphs, charts and the process of problem solving and using technology effectively. Fifteen additional teaching practice (Practicum) hours are required and will include observation and teaching experience in small group, cooperative and whole group lessons at the primary grade level.
