HUM 201 Introduction to Caribbean Dance and Culture

Participants will explore the role of the traditional Caribbean dance forms in particular religious dances meaning and purpose, and their relationship to other art forms and contemporary society, par- ticularly in Cayman. The course will facilitate the exploration of physically experiencing selected dances. It will also provide critical and practical experiences in the creative and artistic exploration of these forms. Field trips, viewing of dance videos and theatre performances for analysis will be arranged.
