Introduction to Child Development

This course will examine key concepts including the nature of child development from birth through adolescence and the the- ories as they relate to the support of the childs development and learning. Students will gain an understanding of the stages of growth to assess learning and make informed decisions in the classroom. Topics include language and cognitive develop- ment. The course also examines the importance of cultural sensitivity as it relates to creating an environment for learning.
