This course will provide an overview of the bank- ing industry, both in the context of the Cayman Islands and internationally. There is an increasing diversity of financial products and the banking industry is coming to terms with new business models. The introduction of new technology as a means of marketing requires banks to establish different relationships with their customers. Participants will obtain an understanding of the operations of the banking sector and the diverse activities involved. Topics to be examined include history of banking and finance, market participants, banker-customer relationships and retail banking functions.
